ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is an ancient healing modality used in various Asian medical cultures. It involves the insertion of fine metal needles into specific points on the body. Beyond alleviating client-specific symptoms, this also helps to increase circulation to the local area, decrease pain in the body, and calm the mind.

HERBAL MEDICINE

Herbal medicine is a powerful and holistic means of attaining optimum health. Asian herbal medicine combines beautifully with acupuncture treatments to help balance the body, boost metabolism and energy, aid in detoxification and healing and to calm the mind and help sleep.

NUTRITION

A proper diet is at the center of a healthy life. With good nutrition comes better and consistent energy throughout the day, better mood and mental clarity and a stronger ability to cope with stresses. I can help evaluate your diet and help you come up with a plan to meet your goals.

BODYWORK

Artashes Mirzatuny is a certified massage therapist (CMT) specializing in Shiatsu massage. Shiatsu (which translates to "finger pressure") is a Japanese style of bodywork that specializes in decreasing muscular tension while also adding light stretching to aid in flexibility. In addition to Shiatsu, cupping may also be used in your treatment. This is involves the use of glass cups with a small amount of suction to promote circulation and break up adhesions. Some degree of bodywork is added to acupuncture sessions as a perfect way to end treatment.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a modality of Asian medicine that uses very fine needles inserted into the body at specific points, to treat various health issues.

What issues do you treat?

Chinese medicine can treat a variety of health issues, and can be used for general health maintenance. I focus on treating acute and chronic pain, psycho-emotional issues like anxiety and depression, digestion issues, male and female health issues, trans health issues and sleeping issues.

What should I expect during my visit?

During your initial appointment, we will discuss the health issues that you are wanting to treat as well as your general health. This is followed by an acupuncture treatment and other modalities if applicable (i.e. cupping, myofascial release, bodywork and/or herbal prescriptions). Return visits consist of shorter discussions to check progress, followed by acupuncture and other modalities.

How many sessions should I come in for?

The number of sessions needed varies from person to person and situation. Usually people feel relaxed and have decreased pain after a session. Chronic issues can take more time to have decreased symptoms, acute issues often clear up faster.

Do you take insurance?

I do not take insurance. If you are wanting to use any available acupuncture benefits you may have, I can provide you with a detailed invoice (Superbill) that you can submit to your insurance company.
